Buying the Best Leaf Blower

!±8± Buying the Best Leaf Blower

For Fallen Leaves That Deserve the Best

Buying the best leaf blower can be a challenge, but it is worth the time involved. One that doesn't match your needs will just create more work instead of making lawn care easier. The goal is to find one that is the best for specific jobs. The best leaf blower for a small yard will be different than the best for a large yard or the best to use for commercial landscapes. Fallen leaves deserve the best and it doesn't matter if they are blown into a garden to be used as mulch or blown together for easy pick up and removal.

Before you head out to the local hardware store or home improvement store, sit down and list what you need to do, the size of the area that you will be using it on, the distance to a power outlet, the parameter of the yard, and anything else that you think will be helpful to use to be able to choose the best one to buy.

Some of the information you should have with you when you head out to buy the best:

What type of debris will you be blowing? How much of an area will you be maintaining? What is your physical strength? How much power do you need? What is the noise level tolerance of your neighbors? What amount of money do you have available to spend?

TYPE OF DEBRIS

For dead grass and leaves the best blower is a lightweight electric one. Weed Eater's Barracuda 2595 (2010) is a good choice. For the same debris but on a larger yard, you may consider one that is carried in a backpack or on wheels.

When you have small twigs, branches, and heavier debris the best choice is an electric handheld leaf blower. Some good choices include the following: Toro's Super Blower Vac 51591, Toro's Ultra Blower Vac 51598, and the John Deere BH25 (2010). For the same debris but on a larger yard, the best one is one that is carried in a backpack or on wheels.

PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVELS

For the highly fit with strong arms, any type is the best leaf blower. For those less fit, who have physical problems, or medical issues the best is one that is lightweight or is on wheels.

LEAF BLOWER FEATURES

The following features are found on the best:

Variable speed Adjustable airspeed direction Handlebar throttle Extra battery Long life batter Adaptable to wheels or backpack

When you are looking for the best leaf blower, ask around the neighborhood and find out what is working for your neighbors who probably have similar needs as you do. Finally, shop around for the best prices before buying one.

Learn How To Build Hovercraft Models For A Science Project

!±8± Learn How To Build Hovercraft Models For A Science Project

Every year your science class teacher would probably ask you to build something out of the principles being imparted in class. So your school comes up with an annual science project. The objective of science projects is to be able to clearly display the principles of a particular branch in this course. So you came up with an idea to build hovercraft models using the applications of physics.

Physics is one the major branches of science that when expanded reveals countless applications. From engineering to simple daily occurrences, this is one of the favorite discussions in a science class. The hovercraft, although not commonly used in urban transportation means, is a perfect example. And so you're off to a good start.

What you need is to know the materials you could use. Understanding how to build hovercraft vehicles is the same with any vessel of this type. To come up with one for your project is simply improvising the materials and bringing the applied science to its miniature version. As mentioned, the objective is to show the principles.

Here are the basic things you will need:

1. Platform - You can use a wooden disk about the size of a manhole cover. You want a science project that is portable and easy to carry. So keep the size handy. This is probably the biggest in your hovercraft project.

2. Leaf blower or vacuum cleaner - You will use this to supply air flow into your platform. You may use any other gadget as long as you can put the air flow in reverse but this is the easiest to find. Your build hovercraft model must follow the air cushion system of the actual hovercraft.

3. Bendable plastic sheet - This will act as your craft's improvised skirt. The skirt is supposed to trap air below your platform. When doing so, it builds pressure and thus creates a cushion of air. Because of the plastic sheet's elastic properties, it will only allow limited air to disperse out of its contained space.

4. Fasteners - Use fasteners such as bolts and nuts to fasten all these materials together.

5. A detailed illustration of your science project hovercraft - To do this, you need to check on other hovercraft kits. Learn the principles. The components should be similar to the materials you have. For example, the fanning system in actual hovercrafts is represented by your leaf blower. The hovercraft hull is you platform disk and so on.

All these things above you will need for the project. Your hovercraft project should be able to carry a real person. Of course you can't guarantee it could carry anyone who is heavier than you. Use your weight as a basis. That is why the platform is suggested to be the size of a manhole cover for this purpose. Last but not least, remember to always pay attention to you science teacher in class.

Which Is the Best Lawn Mower?

!±8± Which Is the Best Lawn Mower?

This is a question that any home owner with a lawn asks when he or she needs to purchase a new mower. A question like this demands that certain information be collected in order to determine the best lawn mower for your situation. For example: how big is your lawn? How often do you have to cut it? Does it consist of just grass - no weeds or other cutting-challenging plants? How much room do you have to store a mower? Can you safely store gas?

If you have a very small lawn, perhaps an old-fashioned, push reel mower would do the job for you. These are pushed by hand - you provide the energy - and they can do a good job as well as provide you with exercise. They are cheap, easy to maintain, store quite easily, and are quiet.

If you have a small lawn, perhaps an electric lawn mower would be ideal. In this case you would not have to worry about storing gas or probably the biggest problem that most gas mower owners face - starting the mower. No start-up problems with an electric, so long as it is plugged in, it will work just fine. There are even cordless electric lawn mowers and with the higher battery voltages available today (36 volts), they now have the power to cut as well as a gas mower. Electrics are clean - no gas or smoke smell, many owners say they sound like vacuum cleaners, so they have a more acceptable level of noise. Most electrics fold up quite nicely for easy storage. And you don't have to handle gasoline so the smell of gas will never be on your hands.

If you have a larger lawn say up to a 1/4 of an acre, an electric might cut it if it is a well manicured lawn. If you have some problem areas with weeds, maybe you ought to consider a gas lawn mower. These require adequate storage such as a garage or an out building. You will be storing gasoline so make sure you have the proper containers and that they are tightly sealed.

Lawns above a quarter of an acre, the best lawn mower would probably be a ride on lawn mower unless you really want to spend a lot of time walking with a push lawn mower. Riding mowers come in a variety of sizes and in the belly of the beast are the mower blades. Some blades can cut a path as wide as 52 inches, so the cutting of an acre is done in about an hour.

Many riding mowers have attachments which may be purchased such as snow plows, snow throwers, lawn aerating, etc. So they maybe considered as being (small) tractors.

Determining which is the best lawn mower for you starts with the amount of work or the size of the lawn that you need to cut. There are many choices as to lawn mowers and there is no need to buy one that is too much for your situation. Simpler is better.
